Turkey, officially the Republic of Turkey, is a transcontinental country located mainly on the Anatolian peninsula in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan peninsula in Southeastern Europe.Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye) is a country in both Europe and Asia. The area of Turkey is about 780,000 square kilometres (300,000 sq mi). Turkey is a republic. Turkish is the official language of Turkey and English is widely spoken in Istanbul; visitors are often surprised by the relatively high level of English spoken by most Turks.

The Turkish lira is the currency of Turkey and the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. One Turkish lira is subdivided into one hundred kuruş.

It was introduced on 1 January 2005, replacing the previous lira (which remained valid in circulation until the end of 2005) at a rate of 1 new lira = 1,000,000 old lira. The official name of the currency is "New Turkish Lira". According to the Central Bank, the word "new" (yeni) is only a "temporary" measure.

They are banknotes from the 8th Emission group (E8), the so-called New Turkish Lira (Yeni Türk Lirasi). The currency code is 'YTL'. The highest denomination banknote is 100 lira. If you have a banknote with a higher value, it belongs to a different series.
